Transferring Cadlink To a New PC

Transferring Cadlink (Digital Factory) to a new computer without losing your custom ICC profiles, print modes, and queue settings relies on securely packaging your configurations before moving your license.

Because activation codes and driver dependencies are involved, completing these steps in the exact order below is critical to ensure a successful migration.

1.Export your Queues and Profiles:This saves your ICC profiles, print modes, and queue settings into a single package..

On your old PC, open Cadlink.
Go to Queues > Manage Queues.
Select all the queues you want to keep.
Click the Export Queue button and save the resulting .quepmzpak file to a USB drive or network folder.

2.Document your Printer Settings:You must install the exact same driver on the new PC for the import to work..

Go to Devices > Manage Devices and write down the exact Driver Name and Version.
Go to Queues > Manage Queues, look at the Port column, and note your connection type (USB port name or IP address).

3.Deactivate the License on the Old PC:Crucial: Do not skip this, or your key will remain locked to the old computer..

Go to Help > Deactivate Product.
Note: If your license is tied to a physical USB security dongle rather than a digital code, you can skip deactivation and simply unplug the dongle.

4.Install and Activate on the New PC:

Download and install your version of Cadlink Digital Factory on the new computer.
Go to Help > Register to activate the software using your digital code (or plug in your USB dongle).
Add the exact same printer driver you noted in Step 2.

5.Import your Configurations:Restoring the package brings back all your custom ICC profiles and queue settings..

Go to Queues > Manage Queues.
Click the Import Queues button.
Select the .quepmzpak file from your USB drive.
Select all the queues you want to restore and click OK.

Expert tip: If you manually built highly customized print modes using third-party spectrophotometer software, it is also best practice to export them directly as a backup. You can do this by going to Devices > Manage Print Modes, selecting your custom modes, and clicking Create Print Mode Package to save them as .pmz files.
